Only a few things to add...
1. Hyland's Colic Tablets
Meredith didn't have terrible colic, but there were a few nights when she'd cry for no apparent reason. These little tablets, which are homeopathic, helped calm her when nothing else would. They are available at Walmart for just a few dollars.
2. Burt's Bees Diaper Cream
I couldn't live without this cream. At the slightest hint of a diaper rash, I'd slather this stuff on her little hiney and the rash would be gone by morning. It never fails! I use it on other skin upsets too, like eczema or even baby acne. A little does go a long way.
3. Sleepers with the elastic openings at the bottom
I love being able to change a newborn's diaper without the fuss of unsnapping the sleeper. I really liked the kind that were like wearable sleeping bags that had the elastic around the bottom, sort of like a skirt with elastic. Plus, its easy to reach for those tiny feet. Don't you just love baby feet?!
4. Dreft Spray Stain Remover
Newborns spit up. A lot. I'd use this stain remover on anything and all Meredith's clothes look good as new.
I second many of the other ladies' favorites. A Pack N' Play is a must, along with the nursing tanks. However, even with the best of products on hand, the first few weeks of having a newborn are going to be a little nuts. Nothing helps these crazy moments like having your mom, or someone else there to help take the pressure off! Experienced help is invaluable!
