How To Make Your Own...

I am SO excited that the topic "How To Make Your Own..." has FINALLY arrived! I have been anticipating this week for a quite some time. We plan to dedicate a post to each project so they can easily be found months later.

Words cannot explain the satisfaction one gets when something one has envisioned comes to fruition with just a little time, elbow grease and a few drops of sweat. The items/projects I attempt to create usually come from a tutorial that I find online. Sometimes I will study an item I have, if no pattern is available and will attempt to sew something similar. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I do not, in any way, shape, or form, consider myself one who is great at the sewing machine. I bought my sewing machine from Wal-mart two years ago with my Christmas money, and I had not sewn one thing on my own prior to buying it. Keep in mind I got pregnant two years ago, so there hasn't been ample time for me to experiment and practice. I still don't know sewing jargon. Anyone can do these projects I am posting this week. I have always been a "do it yourself-er" at heart and in college my mom helped me with two fun projects: pj pants and a throw. The underlying key to anything you make yourself is to have a drive and desire to KEEP at it, even when you're frustrated, tired and distracted. Perseverance is everything. You have to really want the product you're making. With that said, let's check out project number one.
