Keri asked what got me started milling my own wheat and what resources I could recommend to get started. Great question! I started milling my own wheat because I learned that unmilled flour was rancid (90% of the nutrients are oxidized within 72 hours of milling) as well as stripped of the nutritients that God put in that kernal of grain (bran and germ are removed, leaving the endosperm which is processed by your body as sugar). A friend of mine showed me her mill and how easy it was and I was sold. For more information on the health benefits of milling your own wheat, please check out another post I wrote on making bread.

As far as resources to get started, I bought my bread and most supplies through a Breadbeckers coop. I definitely recommend a coop if you can find one because shipping is so much cheaper.

Yay! Thanks for answering my question! Once our life settles down a little bit with our newborn baby girl I want to get a mill!
